Success Story:

Hello,  my name is Dale and I am the creator of this site.  I wanted to tell you how I came to the point where I felt that a website like this was needed.

About three years ago I was at a crossroads in my life.  I was looking for something to do that I cared about.  The answer was working with and helping the elderly.  I was 55 years old and found myself enrolling in our local community college for a course in Basic Nursing Assistant training.  It was a three month course and I had a pretty good time as I was the only man in the course.   There were many young women who were taking the course as a prerequisite to a nursing school program.

Anyway, I was determined to get an A in the course and succeded and passed the state certification exam with flying colors as well.  I knew I had found my niche.

After graduation I applied to a nursing home and was hired immediately.  There is a huge shortage of men in this field.  When I started working in this facility I found long hours, short pay and too many residents to care for.  I found this to be typical for most certified nursing assistants, (CNA's), working in similar situations.

Also, I found the residents, with few exceptions, feeling abandoned by their families and mostly unhappy.  It seemed to me that they would much prefer  being in their own homes.  But of course they couldn't take care of themselves and many couldn't afford to have someone come in to help.

I found that most home healthcare agencies were charging their clients between $25 and $40 per hour.  This is unaffordable for many families.  Or you could put in ad in the newspaper and try to find qualified help that way.   This can also get very costly especially if you run your ad for a month or so.

Then I thought of starting this website.  People can post a job for a lot less than newspapers charge and  qualified cargegivers can register for free.  I believe it is a win, win alternative to paying "High Agency Fees".  I hope that both careseekers and caregivers will agree and use this site for  their mutual benefit.

Please tell everyone you know that may be a caregiver or careseeker about this website.

Thank you,

Dale
